G’day I'm Taronga.

Lindy created me in her book Zooming in on Taronga. Follow me and I'll tell you a few more things about this Australian children’s author - Lindy Batchelor.

Lindy always dreamed of having a children’s picture book published one day – and thanks to hours of hard work and perseverance, that became a reality in September 2001. And I’ve been her close friend ever since! Lindy was working in the library at Taronga Zoo for a few years (she says it was the best job in the world) and thought that Taronga Zoo really needed a book about the zoo, the animals and the terrific people who work there. So that’s really how I was created…and I’m glad I was.

Lindy writes about other interesting things too. Have you seen the fantastic rugby union book she wrote with John Eales for the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia? She knows so much about rugby union – her dad, her brother, her husband, her son and even her daughters played it!

Teachers are pretty happy with her because she writes some great books for them that make teaching and learning in primary schools fun. She used to be a teacher so she knows how important it is to have fun while you’re learning.

When you have a look around this website, (I helped to make it), you’ll find out all sorts of other interesting things about Lindy too. I can’t believe she finds time to write books, articles for magazines, visit schools, review books, work casually in a children’s bookshop and in her local library. I know she enjoys it all though. She sure has lots of other ideas for great books to write too.

I tell you what - she is enthusiastic, positive and passionate about kids' books – good on her, go for it I say!

If you have a dream, follow it, you can achieve anything you want to.
